Providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management and therapeutic services in the community
About Me
Emily Buck (she/her/hers)
I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing initial and ongoing psychiatric assessment, medication evaluation, continued medication management, individual therapy, and/or parent guidance to patients and families located in Massachusetts. I offer both virtual and in-person services, working with individuals across the lifespan, with a particular specialty and interest in working with children, adolescents, and young adults.
I have worked in the field since 2009, providing both short-term acute care and long-term care to patients in various settings, including inpatient psychiatric level of care (IPLOC), Community Based Acute Treatment (CBAT), Transitional Care Unit (TCU), group home and residential programs, therapeutic day school, and outpatient psychiatry. Working across various settings, I partner closely with parents to support them and their children as they navigate mental health challenges, behavioral shifts, and major life events. Throughout my diverse experience, I have developed extensive training in supporting families as they navigate mental health challenges, behavioral obstacles, and major life transitions. My expertise includes treating individuals with complex trauma, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, and neurodivergent profiles, such as specific learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. I have also worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, individuals struggling with aspects of their identity and/or not feeling accepted by others, and those having difficulties related to major life transitions or grief.

About my services
-
Using a trauma-informed and collaborative approach, I strive to get to know each individual patient and family (when applicable), in order to develop a comprehensive diagnostic formulation, which will help to inform recommendations for medication management and/or alternative treatment modalities. I believe in working together to develop a shared understanding and mutual goals, while using evidence-based treatment to seek positive outcomes.
-
A full psychiatric assessment allows me to have a thorough understanding of one’s mental health challenges and provide an initial diagnostic formulation, which will help to determine appropriate medication recommendations and to create a treatment plan that feels right to the individual.
-
It is often important to have ongoing medication management and assessment when taking psychiatric medications. My approach is to never force medication on anyone. However, medication can be a helpful tool in treating specific psychiatric symptoms and to help move forward in treatment, allowing an individual to better access other therapeutic modalities and to feel an overall improvement in one’s quality of life.
-
For those also seeking therapeutic services, I offer individual therapy and/or parental support, if the individual or family is interested.
I use an empathic and trauma-informed approach to help address the specific goals and needs of the individual. In therapy, I draw from several evidence-based treatment modalities, including motivational interviewing, play therapy, collaborative problem solving, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapies.
For those receiving therapy by another provider, I am able to collaborate with other medical and mental health professionals, with your consent, in order to have a holistic approach and ensure you have the support you’re looking for.
I also offer parental support and coaching, particularly when working with children or adolescents suffering from trauma and/or challenging behaviors.

Finding a provider who feels like a good fit for an individual and/or family can often feel challenging and overwhelming. I am happy to speak with you individually about your and/or your child’s needs and if appropriate, can schedule an initial evaluation.
I am currently accepting new clients. Please call or email to discuss your specific needs or to learn more about my services.

I do not currently accept insurance. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill to submit for reimbursement with your insurance plan.
